Recommended for elementary-age students
In this exciting interactive concert, musicians help students investigate the musical element “timbre,” or “tone color,” and the four families of instruments.
Fun Facts:
- Each musical family gets a chance to shine as the Orchestra performs lively excerpts from Grieg’s Peer Gynt, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Bernstein’s West Side Story and more.
- There’s also a special treat—an impressive performance by a dynamic young competition winner, cellist Nygel Witherspoon, performing the gorgeous first movement of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto.
Minnesota Orchestra Young People’s Concerts are for schools, homeschools and families looking for an outstanding arts experience that is both educational and engaging. All orders must have at least one child (ages 1 to 17) and at least one accompanying adult.
